On an unusually warm winter day, my food consuming buddies and I headed over to Zingerman's Roadhouse on Jackson/Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI. The wonderful scent of a wood-burning barbeque greeted us as we approached the entrance. That aroma was enough to send my stomach (and brain) into anticipation of Zingerman's high quality, non-mass-produced American cuisine. Personally, I tried the Bell's beer-battered fish special, and my cohorts indulged in a variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads. As you can see from the pictures above, it was quite a feast for our taste-buds. So much so in fact, that we almost forgot to take pictures prior to savoring our selections! As for the Roadhouse menu (online for the epicurious minds), it carries a different fare than the Deli. So explore and treat yourself to a wider range of American-style food. Would we return for another round? You betcha! Oh, and as to the seating and parking, the Roadhouse is much more accommodating than some of its sister locations.

Isn't it famous for their breads and cakes?

You have to try the mushroom soup and any of the desserts are worth the trip.

After a few meals at the Roadhouse I am not impressed. This may be due to the years in high school that I worked in a BBQ restaurant and personally cooked over a wood fired "pit” in North Carolina. While the food is OK, their prices are quite expensive for what you get.
