Dim-sum is such a wonderful thing. It's like getting to taste a little bit of everything without the risk of being stuck with a dish you don't like. Lai-Lai's restaurant in Ann Arbor has one of the better dim-sum menus in town. My favorites are the shrimp-stuffed eggplant, which is quite deliciously light but satisfying, and the sesame balls, which always stop my sweet-tooth craving. This dim-sum menu has everything including the more traditional Chinese fare, such as chicken's feet and sticky rice. However, it is made to order rather than the traditional dim-sum way of a la carte. So, the next time you're going to enter the cavernous Lowe's or Home Depot on Carpenter, eat some hearty dim-sum at Lai-Lai's. Oh, just so you know, the owners and waitstaff are also quite nice, albeit soft spoken.

Do you think Lai Lai is better or great lake for dim sum?

I prefer Lai Lai's for dim sum, but my spouse prefers Great Lake. Everytime I've eaten at Great Lake, I have been unimpressed with the cleanliness of the place. Also, the food has always left my taste buds questioning if some spice was accidentally omitted. I definitely woudln't sacrifice Lai-Lai's fried taro or stuffed eggplant for Great Lake's fare.
