Arbor Brewing Company is the *real* best beer in town, or in fact the best three beers in town (Red Snapper, Huxell Best Bitter, and Faricy Fest Irish Stout). Rumor has it that other people like many of their other beers as well. One is as comfortable sharing that beer with either a friend or a book in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere with active politics that align nicely with many of its clientele. Though the solid (as opposed to liquid) cuisine is nothing special, there are a few things worth raising the ratio of "calories from protein" to "calories from carbohydrates" (ie, balance your beer and food), as Atkins suggests. The red pepper hummous makes the tempeh superburger special, and the fish tacos are well-worth bearing the plainness of the accompanying rice and beans. Rumor has it that the sweet potato enchiladas will become a permanent menu item, which is a reason to visit at least once a week.
